Wednesday Scanner Traffic: Police Pursuit, Multiple Collisions, Appliance Fire

I’m hopping on real quick to post a few things that are going on in the county. For some reason it seems to be busier than normal, maybe it’s the fog. Here’s the latest on what’s been happening Wednesday morning (August 28):

Police Pursuit in Lompoc

Law enforcement has been following a reckless driver on Harris Grade this morning. Possible DUI driver although this is unconfirmed but suspected.

The driver has been speeding and evading police making unsafe maneuvers. Authorities believe the driver is connected to a residence in Mission Hills, Lompoc.

Appliance Fire on Upper State

Dryer on fire at the laundromat at the corner of State Street and Broadmoor Plaza in Santa Barbara.

Call came in at 10:12 a.m. and crews are still on the scene. Unclear what the extent of the damage is. This is a reminder to check your lint filter, I hear about these all the time.

Multi-Vehicle Crash Near Vandenberg

After 11:00 a.m., multiple vehicles involved in a major traffic collision on Highway 1 near Firefighter Road, just west of Vandenberg Space Force Base.

CHP states no injuries but unknown number of vehicles involved in the crash.

Bicyclist Injured in Truck Collision

8:00 a.m.  – A bicyclist and pickup collided on Upper State Street causing moderate injuries for the cyclist who became trapped under the truck.

Vehicle Fire Off Patterson Ave

Happened earlier this morning around 6:00am, a small sedan caught fire on Highway 101 north near the Patterson Ave offramp. No injuries but quite the fire show. Edhat has more here

Overturned Semi-Truck in Santa Maria

6:15 a.m. – Slow lane is closed on Highway 101 south near Main Street due to an overturned semi-truck. CHP estimates the lane will be reopened by about 1:30 p.m. today (Weds). Edhat has more here.

Vehicle Crashes Near Railroad Tracks at El Capitan

6:00 a.m. – Highway 101 south near El Capitan, a single vehicle went off the roadway and crashed near the railroad tracks. No further information on this one.

There have also been a lot of medical emergencies but I don’t report on those for privacy reasons. One reported death at a retirement/advanced age care living facility.
