A Progress Report. As folks here looked forward to the new year in Santa Barbara, we also took time to be thankful for all the modern innovations that were not here years ago. We could now listen to songs and programs on the radio in the comfort of our own homes. We could drive around the city and even drive to far off locations such as Los Angeles and San Francisco in our own cars.

Not many folks had traveled on a submarine, but after World War I, a German sub came to Santa Barbara for folks to see up close. And the Lockheed brothers had flown seaplanes off West Beach for years. How the times have changed.
