Way Back When: Predicting the Future

In a new column in the local paper titled, “Looking Ahead: Santa Barbara 25 Years from Today,” it was suggested that since the seals of the Channel Islands seemed to be so smart, a night school should be established for them!

Another prediction for the future that doesn’t seem so fantastical was that instead of fireworks on July 4th, the noise would be furnished by motorcycles.

My next Way Back When book — 1918 — will be available in local bookstores in November, and at Amazon.com. This will be the fifth book in my series of the history of Santa Barbara, one year at a time.
