(Healdsburg Tribune, June 24, 1922)

The local paper had bad news for Santa Barbara drivers in December 1925. The price of a gallon of gasoline shot up almost 10% overnight. Wow!

“Barbarenos who didn’t fill the gas tank last night are out two cents a gallon … While they slept, the oil magnates increased the price … so today when they drive to the filling stations, they will pay the young man in the white suit [gas station attendant] 20-1/2 cents for each gallon he cranks to turn over the old tub.”
