Update by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office
August 8, 2022

A suspect who led deputies on a vehicle pursuit, followed by a foot pursuit has been arrested. On Saturday, August 6, 2022, at approximately 6:52 p.m., deputies initiated a traffic stop of a vehicle in the area of Highway 135 and Foster Road in Orcutt. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and drove towards the Lompoc area while committing numerous traffic violations. Additional resources from County Air Support, California Highway Patrol, Lompoc Police and a Sheriff’s K9 Unit responded to assist. Deputies learned that the registered owner of the vehicle, 29-year-old Clinton Cellona, had an outstanding no-bail felony warrant for his arrest.

The suspect continued to Highway 1 and exited on Constellation Road and turned into a housing area where he parked in the 100-block of Mizar Place and fled on foot into adjacent yards. Units spent over an hour searching for the suspect on the ground while County Air Support searched overhead and gave announcements to the suspect to surrender. Deputies exhausted their search at approximately 8:32 p.m. and released the auxiliary units.

At approximately 10:25 p.m., deputies responded to the 100-block of Mizar on a reported sighting of the suspect. When deputies arrived, they tracked the suspect to the 100-block of Alcor where he fled from them. Deputies used a less lethal bean bag launcher to take the suspect into custody, which resulted in injury to the suspect. Deputies provided first aid while medics responded. The suspect was transported by helicopter to an area hospital where he was booked in abstentia for two outstanding warrants as well as evading (felony), obstruction (misdemeanor), and loitering (misdemeanor). He is being held without bail and is expected to recover from his injuries. No deputies or members of the community were injured.

These orders have a domino effect down the chain. If a County cannot send people who belong in the State system to the State due to COVID Emergency, then the local jails will have to do likewise and stop accepting new intakes.

Part of the problem is we are still under emergency orders because of COVID.
Smart criminals have used the COVID edicts to their advantage and even the dumb criminals benefit.
It is long past time to lift COVID emergency orders. The orders were put into place so hospitals and the overall health systems were not overwhelmed. That threat has been over since the vaccines hit most people 65 and older and there has not been anything resembling an emergency for well over a year

So how much did and is this repeat offender cost to apprehend <this time>? He should be charged with endangering others for driving as he did. He could have killed a whole car full of people.

Have heard much about the DA office in SB, and it's enough to make me wonder why citizens are not demanding transparency ,,,& prosecution of drug dealers ,and other criminals San Francisco booted the DA who refused to prosecute.
The new DA is firing those attorney-enablers who gave out plea deals like candy.

What is the point of catching the perp...? Clearly, he's been in and out and in and out of prison and is released with a warrant- no doubt due to a "felony citation with a promise to appear" that he never "appeared" for... What a JOKE and a BS cat & mouse game our criminal justice system has become... Vote accordingly.
