Vigilant Hawk

By Chuck Cagara

Just after sunrise [Monday] morning I spotted one of our “locals” surveying his/her domain from on high.

This hawk (or one like it) has visited our yard before – screaming into the shrubbery to pick off breakfast in the form of a House Finch or Titmouse.

While we are anxiously hoping a mating Western Bluebird pair will choose our backyard box to nest, we worry that this fearsome predator may await them.

To be continued…
