Victim Identified in Fatal Traffic Collision Near Jalama Road

The Coroner’s Bureau is releasing the name of the decedent from the vehicle accident on 10/31/21 on Highway 1 north of Jalama. The decedent is 37-year-old Daniel Pablo Duarte of Santa Barbara.

A Santa Barbara man has died following a rollover traffic collision on Highway 1 near Jalama Road.

Around 5:30 p.m., Santa Barbara County Firefighters responded to the area and discovered a 2005 Chevy Silverado collided with a guardrail then crashed into a tree, reports the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Heavy extrication was required by firefighters to remove the 37-year-old man who at the time sustained critical injuries. He was transported by ground ambulance to Lompoc Valley Medical Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. 

The identity of the victim has yet to be released.
