A Very Tuba Christmas

By Robert Bernstein
The weekend was full of festive events! Tuba Christmas celebrated its 45th year with a packed performance in Storke Placita, next to De La Guerra Plaza, on Saturday.
Here are my videos and photos!
The first half of the 90-minute noon concert was with "Christmas Brass". This larger group consists of brass players from SBCC Concert Band and local high schools and they played all the usual favorite holiday tunes.
The second half was mostly trombones.
Both performances were conducted by SBCC music professor Eric Heidner. He is the director of the SBCC Concert Band and "Good Times" Jazz Ensemble. Here Eric Heidner posed with John Palminteri
The crowd loved it all and stayed way beyond the intended 90 minutes! And the performers kept on performing!
Here is the full playlist of my videos!

Dec 18, 2018 02:17 PMOne of my grandsons played a huge tuba in the SB High marching band. Did so in college for 2 years as well. It always amazed me how he could play/carry it all the way up the Fiesta parade. Interesting instrument.

Dec 18, 2018 06:07 PMMy son played Tuba in high school (including marching band). He took part in Tuba Christmas for several years - and the gathering was nearly all tubas (including some antique and unusual ones). This was in North Carolina.
