A Simi Valley man who admitted that he distributed child pornography – including a video with a filename indicating an 8-year-old girl was being abused – has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison.

Eric Allen Haensgen, 38, was sentenced yesterday by United States District Judge Percy Anderson.

Haensgen pleaded guilty on August 22 to one count of distribution of child pornography, admitting that he used peer-to-peer software on his computer to share files that he knew depicted minors, some of whom were under the age of 12, engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

During the execution of a search warrant in 2016 at Haensgen’s residence, federal law enforcement authorities recovered digital devices that contained at least 114 images of child pornography and at least 3 videos of child pornography.

During yesterday’s sentencing hearing, Judge Anderson noted Haensgen’s history of possessing child pornography, citing evidence that the defendant in 2003 had paid a website for child pornography. Judge Anderson also found that Haensgen had sexually abused a minor by taking photographs and videos of a 6-year-old girl that focused on her genitals.

Haensgen has been in custody since he was arrested on March 24 by special agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Vanessa Baehr-Jones of the Violent and Organized Crime Section.

What in heck is the matter with these men who like such smut. Poor little children, they deserve a nice, fun, loving childhood; makes a difference for the rest of their lives. I have absolutely nothing against pornography where adults are concerned, but this is heinous. In my book, the guy should get life so he can't start up again.

I had the privilege of taking a class in college with the professor who wrote the text book on sex psych. There are people who develop fetishes and their are people who are sexually fixated. Child pornography is a very specific fixation its not a fetish. Fixations are rarely treatable or curable and for that reason alone he should be in prison forever. Let him spend some time in prison sorting that out and keep the kids safe.

Are people born with this perversion, or does it develop somehow? If it develops, how can it be prevented? What a hideous thing. Do people like him seem like nice folks in other ways? So weird and awful. Glad he got caught.

There is no real answer to your question. But think of disposition coupled with trauma and you will get an idea. There are people that literally need to smell poop so they can become aroused. I am pretty sure that is not genetic (or I hope not). They were influenceable/traumatized and found a stimulus that brought them pleasure. Thats the beginning of a fixation. I don't think this applies to a majority of homosexuals but if you apply this logic you can see how people can become completely vested in a sexual orientation and treatment is not really a viable option. Its literally the most powerful driving force. The reason my professor was in New Orleans was due to his desire to associate food with sex drive. He did a very good job. There are some people who only want to eat chicken nuggets their entire life. Thats a fixation. Humans have a drive for variety naturally. To be attracted to children is not a variety we need in society and I say lets keep them out.
