Casa Agria, a Ventura County–based craft brewery, has closed its Santa Barbara taproom on State Street, according to a post shared on the brewery’s Instagram page.

The taproom, located inside the Kim’s Service Department building on State Street between Gutierrez and Haley streets, shut its doors on Sunday, December 28, 2025.

After operating for just over a year, the brewery announced the closure with a message of gratitude to the local community, describing the decision as an emotional one and acknowledging the support received during its time in Santa Barbara.

Casa Agria did not disclose a reason for the closure of its Santa Barbara location.

Casa Agria’s Santa Barbara taproom opened in November 2024 at 418 State Street and featured a hidden patio at the back of the building, offering guests a space to enjoy their beers away from the busy street.

The brewery also thanked its Santa Barbara staff, citing their dedication and passion in shaping the taproom experience and building connections with customers.

While the Santa Barbara location has closed, Casa Agria will continue to serve customers from its primary brewery and taproom in Oxnard, which remains fully operational.

Casa Agria in Ventura County

Casa Agria has been in operation since 2015 and is based in the heart of Ventura County farmland, according to the brewery’s website.

Its beers are brewed in Oxnard, where the brewery has built a strong identity rooted in craft, culture, and community. The Oxnard location offers a relaxed setting with a patio, video games, and a television for sports. The location is family- and dog-friendly and regularly hosts food trucks.

The brewery is known as a boutique producer specializing in mixed-fermentation farmhouse-style ales, barrel-aged stouts, hop-forward India pale ales, and crisp lagers, with a balanced approach to both traditional and modern beer styles.

The brewery uses seasonal fruits sourced directly from farmers, adding a local, community-focused element to its fruited sour beers.

Following the Santa Barbara closure, Casa Agria is encouraging customers to visit and support its Oxnard location.

Santa Barbara has seen several restaurant closures in recent months. Another closure was announced in Montecito, where Bar Lou shared on Instagram that it would end service on December 19, 2025.

The restaurant did not disclose a reason for the closure. Bar Lou opened in November 2024 on Coast Village Road, offering French-inspired Mediterranean dishes, along with happy hour, dinner service, and private events. The restaurant became a popular spot for both locals and visitors.
