Vehicle Crashes Over Isla Vista Cliff

A vehicle crashed off of a cliff in the 6800 block of Del Playa in Isla Vista on Saturday night.

At 11:07 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded with two engines, one truck, and a Batallion Chief for a vehicle approximately 30-40 feet over a cliff. 

Upon investigation and a search of the area, there was no patient found near the vehicle. The vehicle was recovered on Sunday morning.

Scanner Andrew reported a suspect fled the scene and was later detained by law enforcement, as heard on emergency scanner traffic. However, the Sheriff’s Office has yet to release any information on this event.

The incident is under investigation.

  1. Looks like this was what we call here in Isla Vista an “oot” which stands for out of towner. This past weekend there were quite a few parties, lots of oots roaming around, this clown was most likely 1 of them.
    I hope they throw the book at this idiot, doing doughnuts and stuff on a nature preserve, deserves the worst the law can throw his way.
