This Toyota Avalon was headed southbound on the 101 between Refugio and El Capitan state beaches at approximately 3 pm Friday.
It appears to have left the roadway and sheared off the power pole with the front right fender and ended up on the siding tracks.
The radio was still playing but no one was inside. A bystander said the driver set down his beer and did a runner over the fence, and then disappeared into the thick brush which is the state park property between the two popular camping beaches.
Authorities were notified and were enroute.

Just another unlicensed, uninsured and unregistered vehicle, now OFF the road, but another coming again soon…
Yes; turns out State Park Rangers detained the fleeing driver for CHP, who was possibly DUI (though I didn’t hear the final outcome).
