Vehicle Collision on Highway 1 Leaves Four Injured, Roadway Closed

A severe traffic collision involving two vehicles on Highway 1 near Santa Lucia Canyon resulted in four injuries and prompted a complete closure of the highway in both directions, as reported by the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The incident, which unfolded at approximately 5 p.m. on Sunday between a black Toyota Camry and a white Toyota Prius, has drawn considerable emergency response and led to significant traffic disruptions.

Among the injured, a female patient sustained minor injuries but is in critical condition and was urgently transported to Lompoc Hospital’s Emergency Room for immediate care.

The other three adult patients have been transported with moderate to major injuries to Marian Regional Medical Center’s Emergency Room, aided by two ambulances that were dispatched to the scene.

At 8:30 p.m., Caltrans announced Highway 1 would reopen shortly.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
