Firefighters are on scene of a vegetation fire on Hwy 101 SB just north of Milpas.
A vegetation fire was quickly put out by Santa Barbara City firefighters Wednesday evening along Highway 101 at Milpas St. Several fires have taken place in this general area this year. Evidence of a homeless camp was found at the scene. pic.twitter.com/r4OBQ4pjeI

Just drove by it, there was about 15-20 homeless in the area. One lady made eye contact before she lit up her meth pipe. She definitely wanted me to see it.
What has Randy Rouse done to address this?

Remove the vegetation in all the homeless encampment areas, lay down solid hard rock on the ground, and build 6′ or 8′ walls around those areas as well. That should be a problem fixer. “Keep em out!!”
I think you are on to something. I don’t see why they didn’t just let this fire continue to burn until it cleared out the entire freeway siding. Nice day for it with low wind, and a great way to clear out all the dead and dry vegetation as well as the plastic/trash. It would be cleaner and safer to go in and dispose of the trash properly and mechanically thin and clear the vegetation, but since that is not possible for some reason I guess fire is the next best thing. In any case, the next fire will pick up where this one left off…
