Vandalism on Water Treatment Plant

By an edhat reader

Vandals hit the water plant on Mountain Drive. This seems to have happened Sunday or Monday night. As of Thursday, the graffiti was removed.

The phrase reads “Recuerda todo de nostros. Estamos immigrantes. ¡No fronteras! Viva la raza.” The Spanish to English translation reads, “Remember all of us. We are immigrants. No borders! Long live the people.”

  1. This was not done by a Spanish-speaking person. This is a literal word for word translation of “remember all of us are immigrants”, which makes absolutely no sense in Spanish. Google would have done a better job translating than the idiots who did this, who again, obviously do not speak Spanish. But hey, don’t let facts and common sense get in the way of your hate and racism.

  2. A-1544823587 @ 1:26 PM – I guess you are right, COASTWATCH never did say this was done by a Spanish-speaking person. He/she did, however, did imply that it was done by “under-the-the table illegals” to let their rich Riviera employers know they are here because of them, which one might think is worse. I’m not saying you’re a racist, but when you come to the defense of a racist, they might think you are one too…just saying.

  3. AN EDHATTER – No, that’s not true either. Coastwatch simply said the message serves as a reminder to all people who employ gardners, etc…. In no place does he/she say it was “done” by them. Might want to brush up on some basic reading comprehension…. just saying 😉

  4. The only point of interest is the language used. Had it been in english no one would’ve stopped to take a picture, much less start a stink on social media. What’s really interesting is how the real criminal element in this country is demanding a pass because their felonies aren’t really crimes anyway. But crossing the border without papers… well, the death penalty isn’t strong enough to squelch the hatred.

  5. I disagree. If it was in English, we wouldn’t be arguing about who wrote it, thanks An Edatter Has…. The message seems to be the really issue, not the language. Those who are vehemently anti-immigration (legal or illegal), will probably moan even louder if a “white liberal” wrote it!

  6. How do you do conclude illegal immigration is a factor benefiting only of “rich people”? If they need help, they will and can pay for it. . Who mowed lawns and cleaned toilets before this huge illegal invasion of our borders of late? There are far more beneficiaries benefiting from no borders that are staring you in the face – keep digging. Follow the money – follow the $25 billion dollars net this state loses in free services and benefits to illegals every single year. That is the real money drain – that goes to government employees who provide these $25 billion dollars of tax-funded goods and services. The few wealthy getting their lawns mowed does not add up to this $25 billion dollar state tax dollar loss. But filling K-12 classroom and hiring teachers to give illegals free education is the biggest tax dollar drain.

  7. We hire more teachers to teach the classroom filled with illegals than any group the “rich people” hire as gardeners and maids in this state. Follow the money. $25 billion dollars in government benefits administered by government employees is the real cash drain illegals impose on this state. Blaming rich people using cheap domestic help is small potatoes compared to what we pay the armies of government workers administering the benefits we grant to illegals for free in this state. They are the road block to immigration reform; not people in Montecito and Hope Ranch.

  8. Just letting all the Rich Riviera people who employ all the gardeners, nannys, maids, cooks and other under-the-the table illegals that they are HERE because of them- We, the middle class taxpayers will subsidize all those “employees of the rich” with taxpayer supported free medical care, food debit cards and one of the 20% subsidized housing units in Santa Barbara,

  9. Riviera is Italian for coastal region and encompasses all of Santa Barbara due to the east-west mountain range very much like the French or Italian Riviera. If you’re trying be area specific with the backside of APS and adjacent foothills…it’s just part of Santa Barbara.

  10. Sea Dogs: People are leaving the state completely….. in droves. Here’s some recent data:////////////////////The top five states for losses due to domestic migrations are: ///////// New York: -1,022,071
    ///////// Illinois; -642,821
    ///////// California: -556,710
    ///////// New Jersey: -395,160
    ///////// Michigan: -225,302 /////////

  11. Poster at 9:14 AM : Source for your state-to-state migration data?
    ==================================================================
    Given the states you chose to emphasize, it looks like you either made up your figures, or copied them from some bogus site. A look at the US Census Bureau data at
    ==================================================================
    https://www.census.gov/data/tables/time-series/demo/geographic-mobility/state-to-state-migration.html
    ==================================================================
    shows an estimated net population gain for California of 302,548 between 2016 and 2017, and of 498,042 in 2017.
    ==================================================================
    Of the 2017 gain, 316,046 were from another country, whether immigrants or people returning from another country. That still leaves a net influx of 181,996 from the other states and US territories.
    ==================================================================
    The census figures are for people over 1 year old, and each state’s migration estimates have error bars of less than 10%, which I have ignored.

  12. If it mentions some gang favorably, they should round up the whole group, give them scrub brushes and buckets of soap and bleach, then make them seal the area with stain sealer and repaint whatever part of the structure it takes to look matched. After rounding them up, take up a collection of enough wallets, watches, jewelry to pay for the needed supplies.
