Upholstery Recommendation?

Fred's Upholstery, managed by Fred's son Sergio, did a banquette and a gorgeous wingback chair for us. I have a small hide-a-bed couch and a recliner with them now. They also make pillow covers and give insightful advice about fabric--especially durability. I learned so much from Sergio just by asking about the fabric swatches. They don't advise on interior design, and they no longer do house calls to pick up furniture, but their price is great and they are a joy to work with.

Upholstery Recommendation?

Hi, I recently had six dining room chairs and one large living room side chair reupholstered by Carlos Raya (company name is Carlos Upholstery). He did a beautiful job! He had a large selection of fabrics to choose from, and his prices were reasonable. He is located on Bath Street, I would highly recommend him.

I agree NOT Renga. They did an antique chair of ours and replaced the seat cushion filling with cheap foam. It had been down and wool and was in fine shape. No recourse after it was done. Staples to attach fabric, just poorly done overall. Long ago they were good, but not in the past 20 years!

Gail used to work at Dalgene's, but started her own company close to 20 years ago: Textures of Santa Barbara. Over the past 18 years she has done our custom drapes/sheers/shades/blinds/curtains, as well as whole-house carpeting and wood floor refinishing. For the carpeting and wood floors she uses her local sub-contractors, but she took care of all of the scheduling/billing.

I don't know if Dalgene's is still around, but they did a great job reupholstering chairs for us throughout the years. They had a decorator there, Gail, who was great at helping select fabrics and providing decorating input too.

NOT Renga. Did a mediocre job on a sofa and two loveseats for us.

2nd Renga. Did beautiful and reasonable work on a couple ornate vintage chairs of mine.

Larrys Upholstery & Franks Furniture Upholstery, both are excellent!
