The person caught on camera stealing umbrellas from Rori’s Creamery in Montecito was caught on camera again returning the stolen umbrellas.
The suspect returned two yellow striped umbrellas and bases, but did not return the poles, according to the ice cream shop located in the Montecito Country Mart on Coast Village Road.
The suspect has not been identified but the shop describes them as a younger female driving a black Porsche SUV.
In a video posted to their Instagram page, Rori’s Creamery captured the theft at 2:48 a.m. on August 31 showing the woman wearing ripped black jeans and a gray hooded sweatshirt.
The suspect returned the stolen items, minus the poles, around 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, wearing the same clothes and driving the same vehicle.
“Well, well, well……the plot thickens. The notorious umbrella thief of Montecito had a change of heart and returned them at 4am yesterday morning. However, they didn’t bring back the poles and hence this gesture of remorse and goodwill doesn’t really help us a lot. Perhaps our Porsche driving pilferer would be ever so kind to drop the poles back off? Yes, you read that right, the getaway car was a Porsche. Some people………………,” the store stated on Instagram.
“Can the great umbrella wrangler of Montecito kindly bring our poles back, please?
Nice roof rack on the Porsche, btw……,” the store wrote in a second post.
Rori’s Creamery in Montecito Hit by Umbrella Thief

Rori’s Artisanal Creamery, a local ice cream shop located in Montecito Country Mart at 1024 Coast Village Road, has become the latest victim of an unusual theft. Over the past weekend, several yellow stripped umbrellas and their stands were stolen from the premises, an incident that the shop has taken to social media to highlight.
In a video posted to their Instagram page, Rori’s Creamery captured the theft at 2:48 a.m. on August 31. The footage reveals a suspected young woman, clad in ripped black jeans and a gray hooded sweatshirt, committing the theft. The store stated the suspect was seen driving a black Porsche SUV.
Accompanying the video, Rori’s Creamery addressed the thief directly with a blend of disbelief and disappointment, stating, “To the young woman who decided to steal the umbrellas and stands from our Montecito shop over the weekend… really? 🙄”
This post has since drawn attention from patrons and the wider community, sparking conversations about the curious nature of the theft and concerns over rising petty crimes in the area.
Rori’s Creamery, known for its dedication to crafting a variety of tasty ice cream flavors, has expressed hope that publicizing the incident will lead to the recovery of the stolen items and perhaps deter future incidents.
If anyone has information regarding the theft or the suspect’s identity, they are encouraged to contact local authorities. The video of the theft is provided below:

She looks like she goes to a gym.
No character at all.
Unbelivebale entitlement.
Thanks to Biden’s open border…..
Thanx for the giggle Sac. 😀
The Mexican criminal tore her jeans on a rough edge of “The Wall” and met up with a cartel’s Porsche SUV to steal umbrellas and enjoy some delicious Rori’s ice cream at their Montecito estate. All thanks to Trump’s “veto” of the bipartisan border bill. Quite an entertaining tale.
Montecito is a rough neighborhood, although it’s mostly white collar crime.
It’s after Labor Day, and white crime is no longer acceptable crime in Montecito until next Spring. How gauche!
She’s white. And this has nothing to do with Donald Trump.
Satire alert…
Whoosh!
How do people get so brainwashed to blame everything on Biden. I vision Sac to be old or just not a fully lite light bulb.
Satire alert…
PAYIT4WARD – you must be new here 🙂
PayItForward – I agree with you re: Sac. I think that it is time for everyone on this page to start sending their complaints about that person, directly to the Edhat email. It is unreal how often we are subjected to their comments, many of which are often of a taunting manner. I am sure this will response will end up with some sort of bizarre response from them, as that is what they do. I for one am tired of sacjon and think they should be eliminated from Edhat. It would make reading and responding so much more enjoyable.
m2457 – go for it! Give it a shot, seriously. I’d love to hear how you explain why I should be banned from the site because I like to comment a lot. I’ve been a paying member and contributor for over 13 years. Sure, I get into it with others here, but ask yourself why I do.
Should I be banned while racists, homophobes, sexists, hateful trolls, etc are allowed to keep spewing awfulness and bigotry here? If you think so, well….. that’s on you. You seem fine with the likes of others who comment frequently.
Personally, I like to keep this kind of filth off of here. Hopefully, most of the other contributors here feel likewise.
Good luck! I’ll happily accept any outcome by Edhat.
PS – you have never, not once, not ever been forced to read my comments as opposed to simply scrolling past them. So again, ask yourself why.
Your comments in regards to the umbrella thief have nothing to do with the article. This is not a one off. You just rant relentlessly and frankly spam with your non related comments. That’s why others, myself included, think you should be banned.
Your comment is a violation of EdHat policy.
I don’t think banning people is the answer, but I would LOVE a 5 comment per day limit! I’d pay double the subscription cost for it. It’s not just one person that’s the issue here…
5 comments isn’t much, given there are more than 5 articles a day. Limiting comments doesn’t seem like the best way to avoid the lengthy back and forths that happen here, myself being plenty guilty of getting dragged into those.
Maybe, those with repeated racist/homophobic, generally discriminatory remarks, should be limited. Then again, it looks like Ed has been doing a good job by sending those straight to the Penalty Box in order to review them further.
It’s tough, I can see that. Excessive and lengthy “arguments” can clog up the page. Honestly though, and I’m not just trying to be snippy, scrolling works. I do this all the time on Facebook and Instagram when I read comments on Ed’s counterparts there. It’s a little easier though since you can see how many replies each comment gets and then can choose to expand the comments or scroll on.
Would that be possible here? I thought Ed did have something like that when the new site first launched?
If you see a lot of replies after a particular commenters name, you just leave it collapsed and scroll past.
That’s my vote!
Is that the border between Montecito and Santa Barbara, or Summerland? Perhaps a wall is necessary? Aren’t the 30ft hedges enough?
With enough effort. She can be identified.
And then arrested for commercial burglary.
Hopefully that will happen.
She needed the umbrellas to cover up the body of her pregnant wife in the back of her truck on her way to Berkeley harbor ?
Whoa… You know you don’t have to watch EVERY Scott Peterson documentary that comes out right?
I’m so sorry you knew what that was a reference to.Thanks I guess for clarifying? Nah, no thanks.
Maybe she’s having a garden party and will then return them.
Any guests recognize these sun umbrellas??!
We need to quit acting like this is cute and funny because it’s one of our little self entitled white girls with her black Porsche who decided to return the umbrellas. And instead do the right thing and bust her for commercial burglary. And put her in jail when she belongs.

Crazy!! Give back the poles Porsche girl 🔥🔥🔥”
…agree, it’d be great to actually identify at a minimum the “roof racked Porsche”.
🚴
This is not “commercial burglary” as the items appear not to be in a structure/building I think. It is probably grand theft which can be a felony charge though I doubt the DA would push it that far. Returning part of the loot can be mitigation but not much–did she lose the poles or where they out being refurbished?
Un-frickin-believable. What a loser.
Wonder if it was some sort of dare, college hazing prank, or she lost a bet? Not to condone what she did was acceptable. Just considering her actions of stealing and returning (partial) and the motivation to do such a thing. Hmm…unless the car is also stolen.
fuzzy cameras or badly positioned cameras are like having no camera at all if the goal is to identify someone
Unbelivebale !
Is this a PR stunt, great for free advertising… next update bringing back the polls, it will turn into a novel than a movie, lol
What polls? Best restaurant?
What does “novel than a restaurant” mean?
