Unlicensed Cannabis Grower Arrested

The operator of an illegal cannabis delivery services has been arrested for several felony charges. At approximately 7:00 a.m. this morning, detectives from Narcotics and Cannabis Compliance along with a Sheriff’s K9 team served warrants in the 100-block of E. Sunset and 900-block of E. Hermosa.
The search warrants were the result of a month-long investigation into illegal cannabis sales and delivery service operating in the areas of Lompoc, Santa Maria, and unincorporated county areas. The operation did not have any state or county licenses and were selling untested and unverified products, which consisted of cannabis flower, vapes, pre-rolls, wax and edibles.
Gilbert Montoya
As a result of these warrants, 42-year-old Gilbert Montoya of Santa Maria was found to be a felon in possession of a stolen firearm, ammo and illegal and untested cannabis products for sales.
Detectives found a small and unlicensed commercial cannabis grow was in a room that was protected by false walls used to conceal its location. The illegal product, cannabis, firearms and cash were seized pursuant to the investigation.
Montoya was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm (felony), possession of stolen property (felony), possession of marijuana for sale (misdemeanor), and unlawful possession of ammunition (felony). He was booked at the Main Jail and is being held on $35,000 bail.
