Union Track Maintenance Continues in Goleta Through Friday

Source: City of Goleta

Union Pacific will continue to work on a 40-mile track replacement project and will be in the Goleta area through Friday.  During construction activities, nearby residents will hear additional horn sounding from the trains. This is required by law during construction activities.  They also will hear construction noise as work is being done, including equipment with back-up warning devices. There also will be bright lights used to illuminate work areas.

Crews will work evenings from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.  This work could not be done during daylight hours due to passenger rail on this corridor, which could not establish bus-bridges due to the pandemic.

Union Pacific appreciates the community’s patience and support during this project. This work is critical for the continued safe operation of trains along this corridor.

For questions about the project, please call or text Lupe Valdez, Union Pacific Senior Director of Public Affairs at 909-266-3686 or email lcvaldez@up.com.
