UFO or Satellites?

  • I have several photos of an unidentified flying object off of Summerland at sunset. Three photos all taken within 10 seconds of each other where the craft is all over the frame . After increasing contrast and darkening the photo etc. you can see disc shaped with lights running along the side.

  • Around 5:20 am I saw a silent line of around 40-50 small dotted lights slowly moving across the sky then fading. What's up? Satellites?

  • At 5:28am this morning I witnessed lights in a broken sequence all moving east towards Los Angeles at a very high altitude all at the same speed. The lights did not pulse and they moved very very fast. At least a dozen or so. Never seen anything like it.

UFO or Satellites?

Yep, this is it. They (supposedly) are only visible shortly after they are launched, when they are still on their way up to their final orbit. A new batch was launched this week.

Yeah, very likely the latest train of Starlink satellites. You can track them at starlinkfinder.com. I've already placed my order and the current timeline in SB is for sometime in second half of 2021. Can't wait to dump Cox and have a comms link that works in emergencies and while glamping.

Unfortunately, they are visible to astronomical survey telescopes even at their operating altitudes, and are causing problems for the programs that search for potential asteroid/comet impactors.

even though the starlink sats are visible. dont discount the TONS of other sat trash in our orbit. dont pick on starlink and ignore the rest that are just as problematic.

How does adding more space junk not make things even worse? About 60,000 low and medium orbit satellites are on the way from various companies to provide internet services, with very little coordination or planning. There is a risk of catastrophic collisions that would render space unreachable for decades. Moreover, the current space junk is mostly not as reflective, and much is very small.

I sympathize, but choose how to spend your energy. It's doubtful the earth will survive us humans. Some acceptance might save your mental health and what is left of peace of mind. Glad I'm old already and didn't reproduce.

Translation of 3:35 AM: Instead of trying to improve things, just roll over and play dead.

Aliens. They frequently show up the nights after SpaceX flies a rocket ship.

The squid fleet was also out last night. They were pretty visible out near Santa Cruz Island starting just as it got dark.

Definitely star link. You just watched history in the making. I don’t think people realize this, but we are basically watching the early onset of what Amazon did to the bookstore. Starlink is going to revolutionize communications worldwide for a fraction of the cost. It is going to decimate Internet providers nationwide. If they ever go public it will be an absolutely amazing company to invest in. Starlink once complete is supposed to have gigabit speed‘s for $99 a month. No one will be able to touch that. Say goodbye to getting robbed by Cox, or bad service from frontier or unreliable hotspot service from your cellular provider.

Is it just me or is there a ramping up of apostrophe abuse and not knowing the difference between a plural and a possessive? I'm sure the blame lies squarely with SpellCheck and not the writer him/herself.

Well... If it's an unidentified object, and it's flying, it's a UFO. Unidentified Flying Object.
