Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to two separate fatal motorcycle collisions in Santa Barbara County on Tuesday.

At 2:49 p.m., firefighters and an air ambulance arrived at the scene of a vehicle vs motorcycle in the Lompoc Valley at Purisima and Mission Gate Roads. The motorcyclist, a male in his 20s, was on the ground with major injuries and was later determined to be deceased, said Fire Captain Daniel Bertucelli.

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured. California Highway Patrol closed roads in the area while they conducted their investigation.

At 5:42 p.m., county firefighters then responded to Highway 154 eastbound at Paradise Road for a report of a solo motorcycle collision. An air ambulance and Los Padres National Forest firefighters assisted in the response.

Upon arrival, crews reported a male in his 60s riding a motorcycle appeared to be unable to navigate a turn and went over the southside of Highway 154. The motorcyclist crashed approximately 100 feet over the side of the roadway, said Bertucelli.

The victim was alive when crews arrived but unfortunately, as they attempted extrication, the victim succumbed to his injuries, said Bertucelli. Firefighters used a low angle rope system to get the victim back to the highway.

There were traffic restrictions in the area while law enforcement conducted an investigation.

Additionally, two other separate motorcyclist collisions took place on Tuesday. A motorcyclist was reported down near the Glass Factory on E. Camino Cielo Road, and another motorcyclist was injured after crashing on Cliff Drive near Santa Barbara City College.
