A two-fer. I hope the injuries were extremely mild. I drive from Pedregosa to the beach and from The Mesa to Milpas St, regularly. Familiar with downtown driving action. It is amazing the amount of hairball near-misses I witness every day: pedestrians in crosswalks vs. rude/impatient drivers. I nearly cut off a pedestrian in a crosswalk yesterday because the driver in front of me in the right turning lane turned on the green even though a man was in the crosswalk headed towards us. I was shocked to see this pedestrian “magically appear” in front of me. The man walking was slow of gait, yakking on his cellphone and appeared unfazed that his path had been cut by a car. He looked at me with no reaction when I hit the brakes to allow him to continue his leisurely stroll. I was grateful the driver behind me didn’t slam into me with his car.
