Two Lompoc Men Charged with Rape

Re: People v. John Robert Castillo, Jr. and Michael Austin Rivera; Case No. 18CR10737

Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced [Tuesday] that felony charges have been filed against John Robert Castillo, Jr., 18, and Michael Austin Rivera, 20, both of Lompoc, California, in connection with an alleged sexual assault that occurred on October 19, 2018, at a private residence in Lompoc.  Both men are charged with forcible rape while acting in concert in violation of Penal Code § 264.1, forcible rape in violation of Penal Code § 261(a)(2), and forcible sexual penetration by a foreign object in violation of Penal Code § 289(a)(1)(A), all felonies.

The defendants appeared in the Lompoc Superior Court on October 30, 2018 and did not enter pleas.  They are scheduled to return to the Lompoc Court for further arraignment on November 6, 2018, at 8:30 a.m.

They remain in custody with bail set at $100,000 each.
