Two Injuries at Buellton Motel Fire

Two people were injured after a motel room caught fire in Buellton on Monday morning.

At 6:42 a.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to a reported structure fire at 550 Ave of the Flags, the location of the Sleepy Hollow Inn.

Firefighters arrived and saw smoke coming from one room of the motel. They devised a plan of attack and extinguished the fire within 5-10 minutes, said Public Information Officer Mike Eliason.

The fire was to contained to the contents within one room of the motel. Two people inside the room suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation, they were transported to the hospital by a ground ambulance, said Eliason.

An investigator is on the scene to determine the cause of the fire. Crews will also remain on scene to check for an extension of the fire and to begin the salvage/overhaul process.
