Two Injured In Vehicle Collision Over Lompoc Cliff

Two people sustained injuries following a traffic collision over a cliff near Lompoc on Sunday afternoon.

Around 4:30 p.m., Santa Barbara County Firefighters responded to the 2000 block Sweeney Road, just east of Lompoc, for a reported vehicle collision. 

Upon arrival, crews discovered a GMC pickup crashed 75 feet over the side of the road, according to SBCFD Public Information Officer Mike Eliason.

A rescue helicopter responded to the scene and hoisted a male and a female from the scene. Both patients were flown to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with their injuries.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
