Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to two separate structure fires within 24 hours at the same three-unit residence on Orion Avenue in Vandenberg Village. The first fire broke out the afternoon of July 7, and the second occurred less than 12 hours later. Six residents were displaced due to the fires.

Second Fire Not Caused by Monday’s Blaze, Reports County Fire Department
According to reports by the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the second fire was not caused by the first blaze, which occurred at 12:55 p.m. on July 7. This first blaze was put out by the fire department by 1:11 p.m. on the same day. The second fire started about 12 hours later. It was called in at 12:46 a.m. on July 8. However, by 2:12 a.m., the fire department had it under control.
Santa Barbara County Fire Department spokesperson Captain Scott Safechuck confirmed that the second blaze was an independent fire and not a result of the fire from the previous day. The three-unit residence remains uninhabitable after the fire.
Fortunately, no injuries were sustained as a result of either incident. The causes of both fires are still under investigation. They are being handled as separate cases. Authorities have not released any details of property damage. Furthermore, there is no confirmation on whether foul play is suspected. As of Wednesday morning, no additional updates were available.
