Two Acre Brush Fire Controlled Near Nojoqui Grade

Santa Barbara County firefighters have successfully knocked down a two-acre brush fire near Nojoqui Grade.

At 3:35 p.m. Wednesday, crews and a helicopter responded to a vegetation fire on Highway 101, a 1/2 mile north of the Highway 1 interchange. They discovered approximately two acres of medium brush burning uphill on the west side of the freeway.

Firefighters immediately began a hose lay and knocked down the fire. Hand crews will remain on scene to ensure the fire is completely out. 

There were no structures threatened and no reported injuries.

Caltrans has closed the number 2 lane for in the area for the next two hours.
