  1. About 10 years ago I noticed a gas company worker at my gas meter which, at that time, was in an underground vault like my water meter. I asked what he was doing and he told me that he was reinstalling the meter ABOVE ground per his management’s direction. I asked why since it seemed safer being below ground. He said that he didn’t know; he just followed direction. So now we have issues like this. It still makes no sense to me to have exposed gas lines where incidents such as this can cause damage, road closures, fires, etc.
