A tree trimmer has been rushed to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital after an industrial accident involving high tension power lines.

According to coworkers at the scene the man was part of a crew trimming trees near electrical lines. They were on a contract with Southern California Edison. The man was unconscious and rushed to the hospital. Bath Street was closed off in the area of Los Olivos for more than two hours.

PG&E and SC Edison are using outside contractors to mitigate all the overgrown and deemed hazardous condition tree branches that are within 4' of high power above ground transmission lines. They are NOT employees of either organization. The Power companies are scrambling to get neglected lines addressed before another conflagration / fire disaster occurs due to their antiqued above ground /3rd world distribution system.
