Tree Fire on Highway 101 in Goleta

A tree caught on fire along Highway 101 southbound near Winchester Canyon in Goleta on Monday evening.

Santa Barbara County fire crews responded at 6:42 p.m. to Highway 101 southbound lanes and found a 50 foot vegetation fire underneath a tree line of Eucalyptus trees.

The fire was burning between the #2 lane of Highway 101 and the railroad tracks. California Highway Patrol shut down the #2 lane while the trains were stopped in the area.

Fire crews are on hand to make sure the fire doesn’t spread.

There are no reports of damage or injuries.
