Residents are advised to install smoke detectors on every level of their homes and test them regularly. Working alarms can provide early warning and improve the chances of safely exiting during an emergency.
Having a clear escape plan, practicing evacuation procedures, and choosing a safe meeting point outside the home can help reduce confusion during a fire.
Safe storage of matches and lighters is strongly recommended, particularly in households with children. Teaching children about the dangers of fire can help prevent accidental incidents.
