It was crazy traffic tonight! I am now well prepared for Thanksgiving traffic next week. Hope everyone is ok and that we all learned to slow down. Better to be late then not be there at all. Happy Holidays!
There will be more and more of these unless routine tailgating and technology distracted driving ceases being the norm. Drivers' ed in schools stopped 25 years ago, more drivers are substance-impaired and cultural diversity has increased what drivers view as standard practice. (Brings Randy Newman's theme-song to TV's "Monk" program to mind: "It's a jungle out there...")
We were northbound at 5:30 and drove past the big accident. Agree with posters about the craziness of the drivers recently. Speeding, tailgating, racing, dangerous and illegal lane changes etc etc. We seem to witness accidents almost daily in the SB area lately, and got hammered from behind by a delivery guy in a big hurry two months ago. A LOT more traffic now.
People follow each other WAY too close.
At 70 + MPH they tailgate less than 30 feet apart.
There is the 3 SECOND rule in driver's code. I have NEVER seen any CHP enforcing that rule.
The surprise is that those accidents don't happen MORE often !
