Three Residential Burglary Suspects Arrested in Solvang

On April 14, 2018, at approximately 1253 hours, Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a residential burglary in progress in the 300 block of Second Street in the City of Solvang. A witness observed two male suspects leaving her neighbor’s residence carrying property and they were not associated with the residence. The two subjects were observed getting into a black four door Honda Civic with a smashed front windshield and fleeing from the residence with another male subject driving the vehicle. 

Shortly after the initial call for service, deputies observed the vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 246 and conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle. Located inside of the vehicle, were three male occupants who were in possession of burglary tools (lock picks, glass cutter, mask, and putty knife), a stolen shotgun from the victim’s residence, and other suspected stolen property.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 36 year old Jua n Jose Rodriguez of Lompoc, who was found in possession of illegal narcotics and driving a vehicle without a license. The front passenger was 35 year old Daniel Vargas of Lompoc, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug smoking paraphernalia. The rear passenger was 35 year old Francisco Omar Lozano of Lompoc, was found to have an active felony “no bail” warrant and a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. Lozano also lied about his identity. Lozano was also charged with being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

All of the subjects were positively identified by the witness and booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail.

Francisco Omar Lozano was booked for residential burglary, conspiracy, possession of burglary tools, a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, providing false information to a peace officer, and two active warrants.

Juan Jose Rodriguez was booked for residential burglary, possession of burglary too ls, conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance, and driving while unlicensed.

Daniel Vargas was booked for residential burglary, possession of burglary tools, conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The City of Solvang contracts with the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office for law enforcement services.

  1. Wanting some sort of sensible gun control, like who needs AK47s? or why does anyone with mental problems need/deserve a gun to kill randomly? This isn’t “taking law abiding citizens’ guns” like the NRA would like members to freak out about and then insist on absolutely no controls what so ever.
