Three Peaks

By John Wiley

We have long enjoyed looking at beautiful La Cumbre, Cathedral (aka “Tooth Rock”) and Arlington Peaks from town and occasionally when we can fly past. La Cumbre Peak’s picnic area by the old fire lookout is a favorite stop on Camino Cielo. Never having made the “Tooth Rock” hike that’s arduous by all accounts, we especially enjoy studying our aerial pix of the cave at the base. Trouble there is that they’re long zoom and thus usually blurry. When last Friday turned out remarkably clear and bright, we tried again and got these fairly sharp ones with faster shutter speed. It looks like the geo-cache box that showed up in our prior aerials may be gone from the cave. The rock jumble on Arlington Peak is one of nature’s sandstone SB sculpture gardens.
