Three Injured in Highway 166 Traffic Collision

Three people were injured in a traffic collision on Highway 166 Friday morning.

At 8:59 a.m., Santa Barbara County and Santa Maria Firefighters responded to the area of Highway 166 at Tepusquet Road along with a ground ambulance and air ambulance. 

Crews discovered a vehicle collision with three patients, all required heavy extrication for their vehicles. Two patients sustained serious injuries and are in critical condition while the third patient sustained moderate injuries. 

One patient was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by helicopter and the other two were transported to Marian Regional Medical by ground ambulance. 

California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the collision.

Two SUV’s in a head on traffic collision on Highway 166 at Tepusquet Road. The roadway is totally blocked, 4 subjects were trapped, 2 with severe injuries.
