The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department reports three COVID-19 deaths and 526 new cases this weekend.
On Monday there was one death and 146 new cases. The person who died was over 70 years of age, had underlying medical conditions, and resided in the Santa Ynez Valley. The death was associated with an outbreak at a congregate facility.
On Sunday there were 187 new cases and on Saturday there were two deaths and 193 new cases. The two deaths were over 70 years of age and had underlying health conditions. One person resided in Lompoc and one resided in the Goleta Valley/Gaviota. One of the deaths was associated with an outbreak at a congregate-care facility.
There have now been a total of 337 COVID-19 deaths within the county since the start of the pandemic.
Currently there are 1,028 active cases that include 141 hospitalizations with 39 in the intensive care unit (ICU).
Santa Barbara County is calculating 14.5% ICU availability.

Limited Amount of COVID-19 Vaccine Appointments
Santa Barbara County Public Health Department announced Monday there are very limited COVID-19 vaccination appointments available for people aged 75 and older in the following areas:
- Tuesday, February 9th: Santa Barbara
- Wednesday, February 10th: Santa Maria
- Thursday, February 11th: Lompoc
Residents may only receive the vaccine at the site in the region where they live.
Santa Maria and Lompoc appointments are open to mid- and north-county region residents. Appointments will fill quickly. Those interested should call (833) 688-5551 as soon as you are able. The call center will be open until 5:30 today and 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. all other days.
If appointments do fill up, another notice will be sent when more appointments become available.
COVID-19 Townhall on Thursday
The upcoming C-19 Vaccine Town Hall Forum is on Thursday, February 11th, 6:00-7:00 pm. Interpretation will be provided in Spanish, Mixteco and ASL.
That and our school board to actually be able to accomplish something and not just cave to the union.
