In an operation involving multiple law enforcement agencies, three men have been taken into custody in connection with multiple firearms-related charges, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported this week.

The arrests stem from an investigation launched by CHP’s Coastal Division Investigative Services Unit on August 21, after receiving information about Diego Tostado Galvan, a 19-year-old Watsonville resident and wanted felony suspect believed to be armed and traveling through the Central Coast on Highway 101.

Working alongside the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team (SCCACT), the Santa Cruz Auto Theft Reduction and Enforcement Team (SCARE), and the Coastal Division K9 Unit, investigators tracked Galvan to a bus station in Santa Barbara. There, Galvan and 19-year-old Castro Valley resident Jeremiah Samuel Caldwell were safely detained at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Authorities say both men were carrying loaded semi-automatic handguns equipped with extended magazines at the time of their arrest. A subsequent search of their luggage uncovered an assault rifle and four additional firearms.

Following the arrests, investigators executed a search warrant at an Isla Vista apartment, where they discovered another semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine.

During the apartment search, 20-year-old Oakland resident Hamlet Daniel Solis was also detained. CHP later executed follow-up search warrants in Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, and Alameda Counties, leading to the recovery of an additional firearm.

The investigation involved coordination between numerous agencies, including the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Special Investigation Bureau, the Watsonville Police Department, the Gilroy Police Department, the Morgan Hill Police Department, the Southern Alameda County Major Crimes Task Force, the Santa Clara County Gun Violence Task Force, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).

“This case is an excellent example of the power of partnerships between law enforcement agencies,” said Captain Zivic, Commander of CHP Special Services Unit. “By working together, we were able to safely apprehend armed suspects and remove multiple illegal firearms from our streets, preventing potential violence in our communities. I am proud of the professionalism and dedication shown by our investigators, allied agencies, and K9 teams.”

The suspects are now facing multiple firearms-related charges. Authorities credit the collaboration between agencies for effectively preventing potential violence and protecting public safety in the region.

  1. Didn’t these people realize they were breaking numerous gun control laws? California has well over 100 gun control laws on the books. They only impact the law abiding, which clearly these three were not. Good work by law enforcement.

  2. Real problem is with gun use show on TV and movies

So need the goof libs to get rid of violence on media.

it carries the message. good training.

    tweek the 1st amendment?

and stop showing guns in print, compuers and phones.

    so the nuts stop drooling….

    • CREEK – yeah….. sooooo….. EVERY. OTHER. COUNTRY. has violent tv shows and movies and they don’t have a mass shooting every few days like we do. Already this year we’ve had 150 – 250 depending on the criteria you use for “mass shooting.”

So yeah, it’s not TV. It’s not video games. It’s not “crazy people.” It’s not liberals. It’s guns. ONLY ONE factor that separates us from every other country that doesn’t have to deal with this crap weekly.

“Tweek the 1st Amendment?” Why? What does that have to do with this? Oh wait, you mean INSTEAD of doing anything about the ease of obtaining weapons capable of killing hundreds of people within a single minute, let’s change the 1st Amendment (the most important one – you know, how 1 comes before 2 and all) so that film makers and other media creators are banned from showing guns on TV and in other media? My God. And you talk about “drooling” nuts.

People like you are why people die and no one does a damn thing.

    • Sac is totally correct. We export our violent content all over the world. They watch the same stuff in Europe that we do here, they have really insane violent content in Asia.

      Same stuff or worse.

And yet, their incidences of murder and murder by gun are massively higher than ours.

It’s not tv, film and video games. It’s the fact that any wacko can access a gun in this country.
