Sheriff’s Office Investigates Threatening Text

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office received a report last night, November 2, 2017, of a threatening text that had been sent by a Buena Vista Elementary School student to another student at the school. The threat implied violence at the school. Sheriff’s deputies identified and contacted the student at his residence. They confirmed the student did not have access to firearms and that there was no immediate threat to the school.

The Sheriff’s Office is in continuous communication with School Administrators at Buena Vista Elementary School and the Lompoc Unified School District. There is no evidence to suggest there is any ongoing threat to the school. The incident is under investigation.
