Thief Apprehended Due to Public’s Help

Source: Santa Barbara Police Department

Twice this year, the woman depicted in this video walked into the Home Improvement Center in Santa Barbara, CA and allegedly committed check forgery and identity theft.

On May 27, 2018 the Santa Barbara Police Department, via multiple social media platforms, requested the public’s help in identifying the suspect. The “Catch a Thief” post, complete with video and pictures, was viewed more than twenty thousand times.

On June 3, 2018, thanks to our partners in the news media and our social media audience the subject was identified as Deanna Lynne Ramirez, age 55, of Goleta. A $50,000.00 felony warrant for the crimes of forgery, identity theft, burglary, and abuse of an elder or dependent adult was issued for her arrest.

On June 11, 2018, because of the public’s help, Ramirez was arrested by San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office for the felony warrant.
