  1. California does have a stand your ground law, great open carry edged weapon laws, and our world renowned 2nd amendment rights. I absolutely support businesses and people take advantage of the tools available to provide security for their persons and property. It is better to have a method of defense and not need it, than to need it and not have it. Criminals always prefer an unarmed or otherwise easy target.

  2. Wow, petty theft of ANY kind does NOT deserve a gun or self justice.
Sorry – the biz has theft insurance and the allowance for a tax deductions of 10% on sales to compensate for theft is plenty. Someone should not be shot for stealing, it should be police who that and only if the perp is violent or uses a fires a gun. Violence will never subside when matched with violence. We need to look at why people need to steal. Hello!!

  3. Except this was a petty theft with threats it wasn’t just a petty theft say later on the clerk/manager heads out to their vehicle after work with no one around and Jo Blow approaches them. I’d rather be armed then unarmed I have been unarmed and cut with a blade before it’s not fun I don’t want to try and understand why criminals do what they do I don’t care I don’t treat other people that way. No one has to get shot they just have to leave their hands to themselves it is their choice. The only reason it’s just a petty theft is because our justice system is broken. We live in a time where we have to take care of ourselves wash your hands.

  4. Thieves are not a different species. Who knows what the need was, who knows what the resources were? In this society rich people get what they want easily (look at all the professional athletes and entertainers and corporate people who are constantly tested for COVID-19) while the bottom economic sector is left to die in the outdoors without much hope. This is not just in dealing with this pandemic but in living in our free enterprise model society. So I do not know what the motive for this person’s act was but I can’t believe that the evil he presented was even measurable against the evil being done by those who can’t provide medical, pharmaceutical or treatment/hospitalization for the residents of this nation.

  5. @Leo- Stealing and theft is a sub human trait. In some countries it is as serious a crime as you can commit- They are usually countries that have virtually NO crime. Saudi Arabia comes to mind. You steal, you get your hand cut off….

  6. Coastwatch are you recommending Sharia law in the US? Are you recommending that the President be able to trap, kill and cut up and dispose of the body of journalists printing things he doesn’t like (as is done by the current leader of Saudi Arabia)? What is the point of your comment if not?
