A drive-thru coffee pop-up that briefly opened in Goleta a few years back may finally be returning soon.

The Point drive-thru coffee shop is expected to open in June 2026 in Goleta, according to The Restaurant Guy. The business, called The Point Market, will also have a convenience store.

Food items for walk-in customers are expected to be available from early June, while drive-thru coffee options will open later that month.

The coffee shop will feature modern, on-demand coffee machines that will brew fresh coffee, allowing customers to choose from five different roasts and three cup sizes.

The coffee shop will press the beans during each brewing process to ensure each customer gets a flavorful and fresh coffee.

The Point Market has not yet officially announced its upcoming new opening at the location or an opening date.

The coffee shop will be located at the space that was earlier occupied by Zizzo’s Coffeehouse.

In 2021, The Restaurant Guy reported that a temporary coffee shop, called The Point Coffee, had opened at the same location. At the time, the post described it as a temporary pop-up with future redevelopment plans at the same site.

The Restaurant Guy had explained that the temporary coffee stand was primarily intended to keep the property’s drive-thru permit active, while long-term plans moved forward.

The site already housed a gas station and car wash facility at the time, and was intended to become a gas station.

While the drive-thru permit is not required for gas station operations, the owner planned to retain the permit for future use as authorities were no longer giving it out in Goleta, The Restaurant Guy explained.

Citing owner John Price, The Restaurant Guy said that the permit would be discontinued if the building was unoccupied for more than a year.

The pop-up coffee stand did not last long and closed later that year, according to The Restaurant Guy.

The newly announced opening in June suggests that the business is returning in a permanent form.

Currently, The Point Market has seven other locations, including locations at Coast Village Chevron, Downtown Fuel Depot, Mesa Fuel Depot, Las Positas Fuel Depot, Turnpike Shell, Walnut Shell, and Summerland Fuel Depot.

All seven locations are locally owned and include gas stations and convenience stores.

Zizzo’s Coffeehouse & Brew Pub, the drive-thru restaurant, closed in June 2020. After operating at the same location for 12 years, the restaurant announced in a social media post that it was permanently closing “due to circumstances beyond their control.”

In its “farewell letter” to customers, the coffee shop said that while they “lost a lot of money” on that location, they built meaningful relationships with community members.

  1. Where? “…at 370 Storke Road in Goleta (across from Ice in Paradise), formerly Zizzo’s Coffeehouse & Brew Pub and the Storke Road Drive Inn.”; had me chasing the rabbit…(maybe I need to visit the outside occasionally?) Interesting the “Image source” used the 1929 Cliff Drive location.
    Thanks John Dickson…

  2. Really nice to know that they’ll be opening up a new Point Market on Storke Rd. If you drive behind the former Zizzo’s you will find self-serve gas pumps and a number of spray-wash stalls (I believe it’s $5 to power spray/wash your vehicle). Slodoco is just down the block too if you want to indulge in a heavenly and unhealthy donut and/or baked goods (their ham/cheese croissant is quite tasty).
