A 28-year-old Lompoc man has pleaded not guilty to a shooting at a downtown bar/nightclub in Santa Barbara last week.

Alex Zaragoza-Mujica is accused of pulling out a .22 caliber revolver and firing several rounds that hit and injured two men during a bar fight at Sandbar.

Zaragoza-Mujica pleaded not guilty to three felony charges on Tuesday and will be held in custody until his October 16 hearing.

The Santa Barbara Police Department responded to 514 State Street just after midnight on October 6 after multiple 9-1-1 calls of shots fired, according to a press release.

Officers arrived on the scene and located two adult males with gunshot wounds as Sandbar security staff detained the believed shooter, Zaragoza-Mujica. The Police Department states the suspect and two victims were involved in a verbal altercation before the gun was pulled.

Zaragoza-Mujica was booked on several felony charges with a bail of $1 million. On Tuesday he pleaded not guilty to all charges that include attempted murder and assault with a firearm, discharging a firearm with the intent to cause great bodily injury, causing great bodily injury, and carrying a concealed firearm.

Both victims were taken to the hospital, where one underwent surgery and the other was treated for minor injuries, according to Assistant Chief of Police Kenneth Kushner.

One victim required surgery for his injuries while the other sustained minor injuries.

  1. Of course he pleads not guilty.

Not guilty of being an idiot illegally carrying a concealed firearm in a restricted place.

Not guilty of attempted murder upon two people who could not defend themselves against his thuggish behavior.

Not guilty of what is the toxic mentality of many of the “locals” around here.

I know a kid who would bring a pistol with extended magazine tucked anytime he crossed state street, including up to the Mesa. Seriously ridiculous thinking they are in hostile territory, lol.

    Gangbangers and the likes.
