A suspect who fled from detectives on Friday was arrested yesterday for numerous charges including possession of a “ghost gun” and narcotics charges. On Friday, April 30, 2021, detectives attempted a traffic enforcement stop on a silver Buick sedan in the 1000-block of North H Street in Lompoc. The driver of the vehicle sped from the traffic stop at a high rate of speed and lead detectives on a pursuit that ended in the 200-block of East Central Avenue. During the pursuit, detectives were able to clearly see the driver and solo occupant who they recognized as 32-yerar-old Abel Carrillo of Lompoc, who was known to have an active PRCS warrant.

At the termination of the vehicle pursuit, Carrillo ran from the vehicle, through a car dealership and through backyards and a residence along Countrywood Drive and Birch Avenue. Additional deputies and a K9 unit searched for the suspect but were unable to locate him. When detectives searched the vehicle that Carrillo ran from, they found a polymer Glock replica handgun (ghost gun) that was loaded with 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition. They also found over 70 fentanyl M30 pills, packaged for sales and loaded hypodermic syringes.

Yesterday, on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at approximately 5:44 p.m., detectives from the Compliance Response Team spotted Carrillo in the area of Airport Avenue and First Street in Lompoc. Carrillo again tried to flee, this time on a bicycle, and was quickly apprehended without further incident. Carrillo was booked at the Main Jail for evading: wrong way driving (felony), evading: reckless driving (felony), possession of a firearm while addicted to narcotics (felony), felon in possession of ammunition (felony), possession of narcotics for sale (felony), possession of narcotic controlled substance (misdemeanor), possession of controlled substance paraphernalia (misdemeanor), violation of probation (felony), obstructing a peace officer (felony), and a warrant for a violation of post release supervision (felony). Carrillo is being held without bail.
