      • Hey BASIC….. psssst….. did you not know that the SBPD were actually “defunded” using the broadly understood meaning of the term? Yeah….. money was moved to more mental health and social workers back in 2020.

dEFunD! LOL! Gads you’re something else!

        • actually Basicinfo is 100% correct on this, Sac. I’ve got close friends that are SBPD. They have had their hands bound for years, not able to arrest without backlash. they aren’t allowed to patrol, they aren’t allowed to pursuit cars, they aren’t allowed to tell kids not to ride their ebikes at high speeds on state street, they aren’t allowed to ticket minors or confiscate ebikes, they aren’t allowed to do much of anything aside of responding to 911 calls and do investigations. I’ve personally talked to many other officers that I am not friends with. “We have been told not to patrol, not to look for ‘bad guys’, we are told to sit and wait for 911 calls. This is fact. SBPD was defunded during the “defund the police” movement and has just now, within the past month, had their own handcufs removed. You don’t recall the large protest outside of SBPD by some intown and many out of town protesters, and our Mayor, Cathy being present at the event? I certainly do as I was there to support out PD. You youself even state this, with “Yeah….. money was moved to more mental health and social workers back in 2020.” that is defunding the police, Sac. When the funds are moved to other resources. The Department has a fund for patrol and motor officers. Which pays training and employment hiring. Ever wonder why we only have 1 active motorcop on duty per day? 1 motorcop for all of SB city, and guess what, that officer’s shift ends at 4pm daily. That is the fruit of the defund the police movement. Yall complain about the way the city has become the wild west and there is no law and order, yet you want to laugh at others when they remind you that this is due to the police being defunded. Think on that a while please…..

        • It is not a new idea to change the meaning of words.

In Orwell’s fictional totalitarian state, Newspeak was a language favored by the minions of Big Brother and, in Orwell’s words, “designed to diminish the range of thought.” Newspeak was characterized by the elimination or alteration of certain words, the substitution of one word for another, the interchangeability of parts of speech, and the creation of words for political purposes. The word has caught on in general use to refer to confusing or deceptive bureaucratic jargon

  1. I see an axe on the floor and I’m wondering who weilded it? Report says the perp was more seriously injured than the staff, maybe the staff used the axe on the perp? I’d like to see the security camera footage.
