Suspect Arrested for Attempted Murder in Santa Maria

On July 12, 2020 at 0946 hours. Patrol officers were dispatched to a vandalism in progress at a residence in the 200 block of N Western. As officers arrived in the area they found an adult male suffering from a head injury in the 900 block of W Main. Patrol officers rendered first aid until the ambulance arrived. Patrol officers quickly determined that the injured male was related to the call on Western.

The investigation determined that the injured male had been struck with a shovel. The patrol investigator authored an arrest warrant for Juan Carlos Arizaga-Rosas, 37 yoa, a resident of Santa Maria.

On July 12, 2020 at 1442 hours, patrol officers returned to the residence in the 200 block N Western to try and find Arizaga-Rosas. Patrol officers saw him in the front yard and arrested him for the attempted murder warrant without incident.

The injured victim was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment. Although seriously injured the victim is expected to survive.
