Suspect Arrested for Assault with Deadly Weapon on SBCC Campus

On October 4, 2024, at approximately 1500 hours, the Santa Barbara Police Department Combined Communications Center received multiple 9-1-1 calls from Santa Barbara Community College (SBCC) regarding two subjects in a verbal altercation near west campus.

One of the subjects was seen with scissors during the altercation.  Several Santa Barbara Police officers responded and detained the involved subjects.

Officers learned the two subjects were acquaintances and that this was an isolated incident.

One of the subjects was arrested and booked into Santa Barbara County Jail for Assault with a Deadly Weapon (felony) and Witness Dissuasion (misdemeanor).
