Surfer Identified in Rincon Drowning

The surfer who drowned near Rincon Point on Tuesday has been identified as Lauren Luther Campbell, 38, of Carpinteria.

Roger the Scanner Guy reported an emergency response to Rincon Point in Carpinteria after 2:00 p.m. for a possible water rescue. Early reports state Campbell was surfing when other surfers noticed he was unconscious. He was then taken to shore where bystanders rendered CPR.

The local musician and surfer is being honored with emotional tributes by friends and loved ones on Campbell’s Facebook page.

The official cause of death has yet to be released by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Coroner.
