Santa Barbara County Supervisor Janet Wolf has announced she will not seek a fourth term.

“After careful consideration, I have decided that I will not run for reelection for Second District Supervisor.  During the remaining 13 months of my term, I plan to continue working full time on the issues and projects that reflect the values and priorities I’ve advocated for throughout my eleven years in office,” said Wolf.

In a written statement, Wolf described facing tremendous challenges in the past 11 years, but also accomplished a lot for the County with the Board of Supervisors. She cited specific accomplishments to include building a strategic reserve to the highest level ever, providing significant funding for a new fire station 11 in Goleta, responding to a major oil spill and wildfires, and opening a new Emergency Operations Center to name a few.

“I will continue to advocate for transparent, sensible and equitable public policy and land use decisions. In that spirit I am thrilled that just last week our Board voted to accept the final California Coastal Commission modifications to the Eastern Goleta Valley Community Plan.  This final action was the culmination of over a decade of intensive work and the commitment of many individuals, including community members, Goleta Valley PAC members, and county staff,” said Wolf.

She continued to express wanting to spend more time with her family and young grandchildren, time traveling, and to pursue new opportunities while remaining actively engaged in the community.

“It has been and will continue to be an honor to serve the residents of the Second District and the County of Santa Barbara.  I will always be grateful to our residents, County Staff and my Board colleagues for their support and their dedication to our shared common cause of bettering our community,” said Wolf.
