Styrofoam Peanut Dilemma

By an edhat reader

Does anyone know of someplace local that accepts and will re-use styrofoam peanuts? I hate them with a passion, but I keep accumulating them from items I order online. I try not to re-order from vendors who use them and tell said vendors why I choose to purchase elsewhere.

Just this morning I took a sack of peanuts to my local UPS store. However, they tell me they no longer accept peanuts, as they no longer use them. This is a good thing, but before every vendor is enlightened and stops using them, I am seeking a smart solution for those I am still being sent.

  1. No need to call, you can not recycle styrofoam. If you don’t know that you should go online and check the latest changes, as only No. 1 or 2 plastics are recyclable. That means basically milk jugs and soda bottles and no caps.
