A bus became stuck on San Marcos Road late Friday afternoon, March 20, blocking the route between Highway 154 and Cathedral Oaks Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP said the blockage began shortly after 4 p.m., prompting advisories to avoid the area, expect delays, and use alternate routes.

The roadway was cleared and reopened at about 6:15 p.m.

Officials reminded drivers that vehicles over 35 feet are prohibited on San Marcos Road.

Large-vehicle drivers unfamiliar with the area sometimes take the winding route to bypass traffic on Highway 154, but a sharp hairpin turn can cause larger vehicles to jackknife. Incidents like this tend to happen several times a year in this area.
